It`s this time of the year again! Colds, bad health, weak immune system!
Weather is changing, you turn on the heat, hide under the blanket and try to not leave your home, because it starts to get freaking cold!
“Winter is coming”… no it came already and the cold with it
In my family we seem to have issues with the lungs in general, because of that I used to have colds all the time during autumn, winter and sometimes even during the summer months!
The colds didn`t last for the average seven days, instead they were nagging me for several weeks and I also got sick more often than the average joe!
It was annoying and I didn`t know what to do and how to prevent them!
This changed!
I started to workout and read and learn alot about nutrition, supplements, micronutrients and how to get an immune system strong enough to prevent the whitewalkers from getting behind the wall!
I`m going to tell you the most helpful stuff I`ve personally tried over the years, which worked to either get rid or prevent colds in general.
How to prevent colds?!
Improve your immune system
Eat organic cold processed coconut oil
- Coconut oil is antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral and contains lauric acid which can be found in mother`s milk which boosts the immune system, since colds can either come from bacteria or a virus, coconut oil is just perfect!
- Use it to fry your meals, since it is very heat resistant or just add it to your meals, coffee or tea.

Vitamin D3 – the “Sun hormone”
Getting some Vitamin D in ít`s natural and most beautiful form – Malibu on the supposed place of the Iron Man villa from the movies
- If you are living in Europe and you rarely get enough sun during winter, it is a must to supplement with Vitamin D3.
- You supplement Vitamin D3 (between 2000-5000IU) for around 4 weeks and then do a blood test to check your Vitamin D levels (around 30-70 uq/l is great).
- Vitamin D3 is important for so many things in your body and it is one of the reasons why people get sick more easily during the winter months.
- Since it is fat soluble, the best way to take it is during the first half of the day together with some fat like coconut oil.
Eat “healthy”
- That point had to come, right? Eat enough foods rich in micronutrients, like vegetables, eggs, fatty meat, fish and fruits.
Sushi is great way to get some healthy fats and the ginger is great against colds too
- The best kind of foods for a cold are rich in Vitamin C.
- For example: Kiwis, Lemons, Raspberries, Blueberries, Strawberries, Broccoli, Brussel Sprouts, Cherries and Spinach should be included in your nutrition plan. You don`t have to include them all, just eat what you enjoy.
Use herbs to enhance your meals and your immune system
- Oregano, Cinnamon, Ginger and Garlic are great boosters and easy to add to your diet.
Supplement with Zinc and Vitamin C
- Zinc (10-25mg per day) and Magnesium before bed can improve your sleep. Zinc in itself is great for your immune system and if your sleep it`s a win win.
- Vitamin C is great way to enhance your immune system – Dosage depends on the person, a good indicator of “too much” is either a loose stool or when your urine is yellow (if you are already drinking enough, which means your body wants to get rid of the extra Vitamin C).
- I supplement with 1-2g per day, if I have the feeling of getting sick or when I`m already sick.
Sleep
- Don`t force yourself to sleep all day! Just go to bed and sleep until you wake up naturally is a great measurement of how much sleep you need (apart from getting out of bed to pee).
Exercise
- Sounds strange, right? Staying at home and doing nothing all the time could be counter productive. Going out for a walk, getting some fresh air will tell your body that you it needs to function properly and that everything is alright.
- Alot of it is in your head, if you think you are sick or you are not sick, you are right.
- Don`t do any high intensity activities like sprinting or jogging. That`s a NoNo!
Conditioning
- We humans used to adapt to our environment, but nowadays we force our environment to adapt to us!
- We use air conditioning when it`s too hot and heating when it`s too cold, because of that we cannot adapt as well as we used to anymore and our immune system is weak.
- Try to not heat up every time it`s a little bit cold and try not cool down rooms when it is a bit too warm. This helps your immune system! It`s not the cold that makes us sick… It`s not being used to something that makes us sick
- Use cold showers to boost your immune system.
Fasting
- Give your body a break! It has to fight against Whitewalkers! It needs to focus on the enemy, not on digesting food!
- Your body tells you exactly when you need to eat! Why do you think you aren`t hungry when you are really sick? Because your body needs to fight!
- “Listen” to your body and eat when you are hungry, don`t force yourself to eat. Drink water and tea.
How to get rid of the cold?
There are some unusual tricks that seem to work to get rid of the cold before it even starts!
- Supplement with 1200mg of “Androphagis Paniculata” for 2-3 days
- This supplement called “king of bitters” helped me to get rid of an appearing cold completely.

Lyle McDonald`s “trick” for colds
- Supplement with Glutamine and high dosages of Vitamin C
- I got this trick from Lyle McDonald and it works wonders.
- You take around 5g of pure Glutamine which depletes rapidly during a cold and also take high amounts of Vitamin C (1-2g).
- Do this 4-6 times per day for 1-2 days, if it didn’t help after two days you stop.
If I ever catch a cold again it doesn`t affect me that much anymore, It`s gone in 4 days and I don`t even feel sick apart from coughing and snuffing!
This can help you too!
